WE'RE GOING TO HONDORUS!!

So this is my first post and I've never blogged before so bare with me while I figure this out :) So as many of you know Amber and I have been trying to plan a long term missions trip and it's been sort of frustrating...we decided that we wanted to go and God was calling us to the mission field, however finding a place to serve has been the difficult part. Amber went to Brazil on a mission trip last year and fell in love with the country. She knew when she graduated that she wanted to go back and I was going to go with her. Our plans were being set and I quit my job and some things just started getting really confusing with miss communications and our Brazil plans just fell through. We were really upset because we were set on going so we started looking for places that we could go serve.

THIS IS WHERE HONDORUS COMES IN!! Donna Sloan , is a lady that used to go to my old church and is very involved with Hondorus and has a missions group there that she's started and sponsors. A very good friend of ours has been going every year for around the past 6 years and has absolutely fallen in love with the country and the people there. We thought about her and called her to talk about us possibly going to stay there and to meet with her. She came to the house on Saturday very open to the idea but not really thinking much of it...but God was definately in this! She's never had a full-time missionary go stay there and have not been set up to accomidate one, but in the last few months they've finished a 2nd floor for missionaries for if and when they came...perfect timing :) She has a full-time job so it's difficult to get accomplished what she wants to do there and us being there could really help start some things she's wanted to do in the village for a long time. We'll be working in a village 45 minutes from Tegucigalpa, the capital city of Hondorus. This village is the poorest of the poor and has no electricity, running water or bathrooms. Our room will have very basic needs with electricity and running water, however our building where we will be staying is the only one. These people have nothing and yet they are still completely happy with their lives and feel so blessed for things that we just take advantage of. We're leaving on the 30th of this month and will be gone for about 6 months!! We're getting to the opportunity to go and teach them English (NO ONE in the village speaks English, AAAA!!) which is the most important thing because it will give them a way out of their circumstances. Amber and I have bought our spanish picture dictionaries haha and all the books and are trying to learn Spanish has fast as we can! We'll be completely submersed in the language so hopefully we'll pick it up fast....or we won't be talking to many people. I'm so excited to get there and can't wait to meet everyone and get settled in and start making a difference there :) This experiece is going to change my life in so many ways and I'm so excited to see where God leads me, the people that I'm going to meet, and the adventures that me and my sister are going to have.

We're going to be staying with the Pastor McClain and his family in joined building and they'll will be helping taking care of us and watching over us while we're there. To all of our friends and family and anyone interested in this blog, if you guys could all please pray for our safety and keep us in your thoughts as we leave everything we know and the people that we love. THIS IS A HUGE STEP FOR US! If you know us, you know we're very family family oriented and close, so it's going to be a big adjustment. We won't have the internet where we're staying so we're going to travel into the city a few times a week , so I'll try to keep up with blogging as much as possible...please e-mail us and leave comments because we won't be able to talk to any of you guys, so it'll be nice to hear from everyone back home! Well this post in long enough, but I love all of you guys and just want to say thanks to everyone for your support and finances that have made this trip possible! I wouldn't be going if it weren't for you guys! You ALL are going to make a HUGE difference in the lives of these adults and children of this village because of your giving, so thank you in advance!..God is going to do AMAZING things :) Love You Guys! I'll write again soon!
